Unique opportunity to re-purpose key community architecture!

Built circa 1835 by Seventh Day Baptists, the building held its Service of Closure in 2000. The local historic association, Tromptown Historical Society (THS) purchased the building (2005) to prevent its removal from the community and worked to preserve and restore the space, including rebuilding the south foundation wall and piers supporting the structure. The top section of the bell tower was removed in 2017 and the remaining part of the tower stabilized for future repairs. A structural analysis report was commissioned by architect/engineer and available to buyer. The lower level stained glass was sold prior to the historical society's ownership. A more modern addition was added to the back (west), once supporting a kitchen, open space and bathrooms - this area would need significant repairs/replacement. A circular drive leads to the back of the building with parking for approx. 50 cars.
The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and may be eligible for Historic Tax Credits to a for-profit property developer/home owner.

The building is offered for purchase as-is at $25,000. THS may consider an alternate purchase/lease arrangement where concept/proof of funding would return the building's use to contributing to the community.
DeRuyter is located in central New York, at the southwest corner of Madison County. Syracuse and Cortland (Thruway and Interstate 81) are within 30 minutes. The area has many outdoor venues including lake access, hiking and ski trails/hills. The village of DeRuyter is home to a pk-12 school (>500 students) and the quiet community includes grocery/gas, furniture, hardware, several restaurants, banking, public library, museum seasonal ice cream/stand and a bowling alley. DeRuyter Reservoir, a man-made lake built to supply the Erie Canal, is within 2 miles of the village and supports a summer community, migrating to the area for the season.
